Welcome to this website celebrating Styal Railway Station in Cheshire Styal station is located just off the B5166 between Wilmslow and Heald Green. It’s on Station Road – 50 metres from the war memorial. The station is between Manchester Airport and Wilmslow on the Manchester to Crewe line. The local rail operator, Northern Rail has recently improved the rail service to Styal making travel by train a good choice to reach the attractions in the area. Styal is home to the National Trust run Quarry Bank Mill and Styal Estate, which is well worth a days visit. There is always a lot going on with the National Trust expanding facilities on site. Also close to Styal Station is HMP Styal, one of the largest female prisons in the UK with over 450 inmates. A recent addition to the Prison Facility is a restaurant, called ‘The Clink‘, it is a fully equipped restaurant turning out high quality food, while giving offenders a chance to learn new skills and access to employment opportunities. Opened in 1962, it occupies some of the “Styal Cottages” accommodation and plus purpose built buildings just off Styal Road between the village centre and Worms Hill. Friends of Styal Station is a voluntary community group formed in 2008 to advocate the development of rail servcies at Styal Station, to preserve the history of the station for future generations and make it an integral part of the village and community.
